Toyota unveiled Woven City in Shizuoka to test advanced mobility technologies, featuring dedicated roads and automated delivery experiments.

So check this out! Toyota just revealed the first phase of their Woven City in Susono, Shizuoka, aimed at testing out cutting-edge mobility tech. This demonstration city has dedicated roads for automated vehicles and special underpasses for logistics. Toyota Chairman Akio Toyoda declared, "From this place, I hope that future mobility will emerge." And he's not kidding—it's a game changer!
The initial phase covers 47,000 square meters featuring 14 buildings, including residential areas and an energy center. Construction’s still buzzing with hydrogen pipelines and automated delivery robot tests. Woven City intends to expand to 700,000 square meters and can eventually house around 2,000 residents. They're kicking things off this fall with about 100 folks moving in. Toyoda describes it as an "eternally unfinished city," a hub for innovation that’s always growing. Now that’s a vision for the future!
