Tourist steals offerings, drinks alcohol in Japanese cemetery; police investigating.
An Australian tourist angered Japan by disrespectfully drinking at a cemetery, prompting backlash and a police investigation.
Listen up, folks. An Australian tourist thought it’d be a brilliant idea to film his visit to a cemetery in Fujikawaguchiko, Japan. Now, you’d think he’d keep it respectful, right? Wrong. Instead, he strolls up to a grave, sees a canned chu-hi cocktail left as an offering, picks it up, cracks it open, and starts chugging it like he’s at a BBQ. So disrespectful! In Japan, these offerings aren’t for tourists to guzzle down; they’re sacred memories for the deceased.
This guy then takes it a step further, tossing the empty can on the ground and fooling around with a model pistol and a wooden grave marker that he clearly lifted from one of the graves. And let me tell you, people in Japan are furious about this—comments like “Don’t ever come back” and “Apologize, grave robber!” are just a taste of the backlash. The local police are now getting involved, investigating this jackass, trying to track him down and see what, if any, consequences he’ll face for his actions. You just can't be that careless and expect to walk away scot-free!
