OpenAI's GPT-5.5 is more efficient and improved for coding.
OpenAI has launched GPT-5.5, an advanced model designed for complex tasks, enhancing productivity with improved safeguards and fewer tokens.
OpenAI just dropped its new GPT-5.5 model, calling it the smartest and most intuitive yet. This upgrade comes right after the launch of GPT-5.4 last month. GPT-5.5 is about tackling messy, multi-part tasks. You just hand it your chaotic workload, and it plans, uses tools, checks its work, and navigates through the confusion. Plus, it’s got the best safety features OpenAI has introduced and uses fewer tokens for tasks.
The rollout starts Thursday for Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise tiers, with GPT-5.5 Pro for select users. This release heats things up in the AI battle, especially with Anthropic’s Claude Opus 4.7 and the new Mythos Preview making waves too. With OpenAI recently cutting back on “side quests,” they’re chasing those big revenue boosts. Oh, and keep an eye out—this all coincides with the high-profile trial involving Elon Musk and OpenAI's executives kicking off on Monday.
