These folks, part of the No Azure for Apartheid movement, interrupted Microsoft events all year, demanding the company cut ties with the Israeli government. Smith was chill, sitting on his desk, admitting it was an "unusual day" as he faced reporters.
He emphasized Microsoft’s commitment to human rights and that they’re investigating claims about their Azure platform being misused for surveillance against Palestinians. Smith did say they disagree with certain parts of a report on the issue, but some findings are serious enough to look into. He mentioned that the protesters, including two Microsoft employees, had crossed lines by “storming a building” and setting up listening devices. Not cool, right?
