With the right clothing, anyone can look like a bear. Lately, rural Japan has been on high alert due to a surge of bear sightings, but thankfully, the dangerous encounters seem to be slowing down. On December 15th, a driver spotted a bear on National Route 13 in Yamagata City and reported it. The police warned local businesses to stay vigilant.
Days later, a business revealed they had seen a woman in a bear-like jumpsuit on the highway at the same time. Turns out, the original bear sighting was just a case of mistaken identity. Online commentators had their fun, questioning how we know bears don’t smoke. But let’s be real: in a time when bear attacks are rampant, maybe now’s not the time to dress like one.
