Google opens AI video editor Vids to all users.
Google is launching a basic version of Vids, its AI video editor, for all users, enhancing video creation efficiency.

Google is rolling out a basic version of Vids for everyone. Until now, this AI-powered video editor was only available to Google Workspace subscribers, but now anyone can access it. Product director Vishnu Sivaji says it includes templates, stock media, and a few AI features. Vids helps you whip up video presentations with tools to create storyboards, stock images, and background music.
However, the free version won’t have the latest AI capabilities, like generating an avatar to deliver your message. You can pick from 12 pre-made avatars with different looks and voices but can’t make one of yourself just yet. Google aims for Vids to save companies time and money on video production, saying a 10-minute clip with live actors can take months and cost tens of thousands. With these new features, they hope to help people produce videos faster and more efficiently.
